Exploring the imaginative and innovative use of raw materials

The ‘MAKE, CREATE, CULTIVATE’ symposium will bring together industry, heritage and education, allowing an exchange of skills, ideas, and knowledge across the working practices of all participants.
Day one of the symposium will explore three projects created by Somerset Art Works ‘Make the Most’, ‘Abundance’ and ‘Z-Twist’ with artists from those projects talking about their work which brings traditional or historical materials, processes and aesthetics together with innovative new approaches – profiling traditional British style with a contemporary twist.
Day two will give makers an opportunity to share practice and skills through a programme of workshops including makers breakfast.
The Z Twist exhibition will open to symposium visitors over the weekend.
Why attend?: The symposium will explore creative collaborations between designer/makers and industry partners and the use of digital technology.
Speakers will include artists and makers, members of the textile industry, heritage professionals, industry experts and representatives of the creative industries.
